Recap: Geek Chic Cosmetics Swatch Posts

Hi everyone!
I'm linking all my GCC swatch posts here as a way of making them all more easily accessible. You could call it a "week" of swatches, even though they weren't all one day after the other because of scheduling issues (blogger, u suck!)

Anyway! Here they are:

Geek Chic: N7
Geek Chic: Portals
Geek Chic: Pwny Tales
Geek Chic: Old School Video Game Night
Geek Chic: Go Boldly To The 10 Man Raid
Geek Chic: Forever Alone
Geek Chic: Last Best Hope

I hope you have liked these posts, it's probably the most consistent I've been with my blogging in a very long time and I'm pretty proud of them :)

Do you own anything from Geek Chic Cosmetics? Is there anything you might be wanting after reading these posts? I want to know!

Love,
Tat

Geek Chic: Last Best Hope

Finally, the last of the swatch posts featuring Geek Chic Cosmetics is here!
You know that saying, "save the best for last"? Well this is sort of like that. All the colors have been pretty, gorgeous, sparkly, and awesome. . . But this collection definitely takes the cake. Out of all the shadows that I've swatched, these are the most beautiful, to me. And let's not forget that lipstick. Chrysalis is absolutely amazing!

Chrysalis. Excuse the application, it seems I haven't yet mastered the lipstick-for-up-close master class. . .

L-R: Touched By Darkness, Moonfaced Assassin of Joy, Starkiller, All Love Is Unrequited, Everybody Lies

With flash. I strongly recommend clicking on the picture for a close up view of these.

I apologize for not being able to post color descriptions and the like at this very moment, but I really wanted to have the pictures up before I go out of town for a few days. Hope you liked my swatch posts!

Geek Chic: Forever Alone

These next shades are alone, as in some of them are just single players with no collection, others are the only ones from their collection that I've got. In any case I noticed a sort of dark theme going on with these, and decided to group them together for swatch purposes. Keep in mind that if I don't post anything under "My Take" it's because I pretty much agree with the official color description.

(click on pics for larger view) L-R: Chewie, Untimely Love, Solid Snake, Brotherhood of Crows, Stay Indoors

Color Descriptions:
Chewie:Chewie is a rockin' cocoa brown with golden and bronze undertones and has a subtle golden shimmer to it.

Untimely Love: dusky blackened maroon base lit with a vibrant, vivacious spring green glow.

Solid Snake: black/blue duochrome with tons of blue sparkle.
My Take: buy it. now.

Brotherhood of Crows: dusky black base with a glint of metallic gunmetal

Stay Indoors: It is a black green/blue/purple trio-chrome.
My Take: One of the first shades I ever bought as well, I have particularly taken to use it wet as an eyeliner.

Back to the Fuschia
"Back to the Fuchsia is bubblegum, Barbie and candy pinks all rolled into one and smothered in sugary fuschia frosting. The smoothest, richest, sweetest bright fuchsia lipstick with a creme finish that tastes just like root beer."

I know the picture is blurry, but I made it that way on purpose. I still think it shows the color well, it's a bit pink-ier in real life but the texture and coverage of this is absolutely amazing! Plus Root Beer is one of my favorite things on the planet so I very much enjoy the scent of this one.

As Always, thanks for reading!

Geek Chic: Go Boldly to the 10-Man Raid

Another combo post! Today I will be posting two shades from 10 Man Raid, and three shades from Go Boldly.

I always seem to have some sort of personal experience or other with these different themes, but the closest I've ever been to WOW is a bit of the TCG (short-lived career is an understatement) and I don't think watching a couple of episodes of Star Trek Voyager makes me even close to being a fan (although my fandom for Capt. Janeway is pretty solid). It doesn't really matter, because I can still enjoy these lovely shades even if I don't really get the jokes ;)

First off, 10 Man Raid. Mana Battery is on the left, All The Rage on the right.

Color Descriptions:
Mana Battery:  Mana Battery is a super shimmery white.
My Take: That's exactly what it is. lol.

All The Rage: All the Rage is a soft brown with hints of green and blue highlights.
My Take: This is the second sample of this color that I own. The first was a gift with purchase, and I misplaced it so I ordered another one. It is a beautiful color! After receiving my last sample order I found sample number one. Now I have two. Yayness. :)

(Does this remind anyone else of Mardi Gras? Anyone?)
These shades are part of the Go Boldly collection: Continuum, Mind Meld, Blood Wine.

Continuum: Continuum is a bright sunny yellow with yellow shimmer and yellow gleam.
My Take: bright sunshine yellow, what more does one need?? I had a bit of trouble reaching opacity on the first swipe, but it could've been the Pixie Epoxy.

Mind Meld: Mind Meld is a funky, bright lime-y green with golden/coppery sheen and has oodles of golden glitter.
My Take: Mind Meld reminds me a lot of Green 'Stache, only a bit more intense. Like a level 2 or something.

Blood Wine: Blood Wine is a black/red duochrome that blends to look like a deep burgundy.
My take: Let's take a moment to really appreciate what this color actually is. A perfect one-stop shade for a very unique smokey eye. I LOVE IT.

I hope you find my swatches useful! Thanks for reading :)

Geek Chic: Old School Video Game Night

Techically, the names of the collections that these shades belong to are not the one on the title of this post. However, seeing as I grouped together four colors from two different collections, and whenever I think of attempting to master absolutely anything on my SNES I think of these two games, I thought the title was appropriate.
Today I will be showing you swatches of two shades from the Dangerous To Go Alone collection, and two shades from the Mushroom Kingdom collection. I love-to-hate The Legend of Zelda (I actually really like it but for some reason it frustrates me to no end) and for some reason I have never gotten very far in Super Mario Bros. It's safe to say I suck at it. Anyway, on to the swatches!
(as always, swatched dry over Pixie Epoxy, top photo with no flash, bottom with).

L-R: Triforce (reformulated and re-named Power Wisdom Courage), Chosen One, Tomboy Princes, Green 'Stache

Color Descriptions:
Triforce (Power Wisdom Courage): Power Wisdom Courage is a beautiful gilded yellow-gold with bunches of shimmer and golden sparkle.

My Take: Triforce is more like a beige-gold, very neutral and actually perfect for more everyday use. I am very very  anxious to try the new formulation, because judging by the swatch post on the website, it looks absolutely amazing.

Chosen One: Chosen One is a deep emerald green with tons of gold and green sparkle.

My Take: Whenever I think of Emerald Green I think of something maybe brighter, more of a leafy-green. This shade however makes me think of a forest, maybe a darker, deeper green. It's beautiful.

Tomboy Princess: Tomboy Princess is a sunny buttercup yellow, just bursting with rainbow glitter and has subtle golden undertones.

My Take: When I look at this color I definitely think Sunshine. It's a cheery color, and it's great for perking up tired eyes with a quick wash of color all over the lid.

Green 'Stache: Green 'Stache is a bright limey green with gold undertones and tons of green and silver sparkle.

My Take: Again, I see this color darker than the actual description but that's still not a problem. It's a bit lighter than Chosen One, and they both pair beautifully together.

I probably should've done this three posts ago but I  want to make it clear that all products presented in this and previous posts (and those to come) have been purchased by myself and not given to me. I am doing these swatch posts and reviews just to add to the internet, to add more pictures out there for people who are curious as to how these shades look. That's all. They're products that I stand for and support, and this is just my way of showing appreciation for the brand.

Geek Chic: Pwny-Tales

Hey there! Welcome to installment number three of my swatch-frenzy. (This is what you get from such a massive sample order... An overwhelming amount of sparkles!)
Today I bring you some shades from the Pwny-Tales collection. Now, before I ever saw this set go online I'd never watched the new series. But then some friends started talking about it (ok, more like obsessing) and I caved and watched a few episodes on Netflix... It pretty much rocks. So yeah, here goes :)

(Top pic: no flash, daylight bulb. Bottom pic with flash)
L-R: Benevolent lip gloss, Cupcakes, Faithful Student

Shade Descriptions:
Benevolent:  Benevolent is a soft, yet vibrant cool-toned bubblegum pink lip gloss. It is a sassy explosion of a whole rainbow of sparkles in minty green, vibrant violet, a splash of aqua, all intermingled with holo sparkle too! Benevolent has a secret side to it. When in the right light it has an incredible spring green shift that almost appears to float on top of the pink. It goes on nearly opaque and tastes like a sweet mint julep.

My Take:  I completely agree with the description. This color is definitely one of those you just need to see in person! Here's a lip swatch.. .

So pretty! I love the texture of the gloss as well, I really like the pigmentation and I'm loving the new click-pen applicator. Good Job, Geek Chic :)

Cupcakes: a bright, beautiful, perfect pinky pink! It’s a got a touch of sunshine in it that makes it’s oh so very warm! And that’s not even the best part, it’s packed full of *gasp* GLITTER! Awesome glitter with pops of pink and purple and soooooper pretty iridescent sparkles too!

My Take: I honestly never thought I'd like a pink eyeshadow so much. Ever.

Faithful Student: Faithful Student is a rich and deep deep navy blue that leans purple.

My Take: Color description and website swatch is very accurate. I think it's an amazing color, and I'm looking forward to using it in a purple smoky eye like the website suggests.

I didn't think of this when picking these shades but how perfect would they look used together? I'm definitely going to entertain that thought for awhile.

Geek Chic: Portals

I sometimes wonder if my writing is a bit too "informal" for this type of purpose. It seems like I have a hard time beginning and ending every single post. . . Anywhoo. Here's number two in the series of blog posts showcasing the wonderful Geek Chic Cosmetics and their awesome eyeshadows.

If you haven't played Portal you don't know what you're missing. There, I said it. Also, if you haven't played Portal 2, then you really really should find a way to do so, because the extended gameplay, added characters, and amazing "dialogues" in this game are very very much worth the wait. On to the swatches!

***It appears on the website that Portal Orange and Portal Blue have been reformulated. I haven't gotten samples of those yet, but seeing as I already had these from way back, I swatched them anyway. As soon as I am able to, I will update the post with the newer formulations***

Top pic is Daylight Bulb, no flash. Bottom pic with flash.
L-R: Combustible Lemon, Portal Orange, Portal Blue.

Color Descriptions:
Combustible Lemon: Combustible Lemon hits you with a bang with a blindingly bright yellow shimmer base with sparkling flashes of gold, red, orange, and blue. This color truly packs a punch and doesn't scrimp on the sparkle. Goes on almost opaque that easily built up to full opacity.

My Take: I think the description is fairly accurate for this color. I did notice that the larger sparkles tended to kind of bunch up in different areas of the application and then mostly were unnoticeable when swatched. I strongly suggest a sticky base for this shade!

Portal Orange: Portal Orange is a deep yet vibrant orange with tons of gold sparkle. Portal Orange is a hot true pumpkin orange. Great for use on hot sunny summer days!

My Take: I see this color as a bright terracotta. It does have sparkle, and it's very nice, but it's not orange (or as orange as I'd wanted it to be). The new swatch pic on the website makes it seem much more orange-y, so I'm really looking forward to trying it out in the near future.

Portal Blue: Portal Blue is a bitchin' blue with tons of sparkle! Icy and intense blue, it would make a totally rad eyeliner when used wet!

My Take: Even though I have an older version of this shade, I still think the website accurately describes it. It is a gorgeous icy blue with sparkle. It applies so smooth and perfect, it's probably one of my favorite GCC eyeshadows from my first order way back when :)

All in all, I really like these colors and I'm very much looking forward to sampling the rest of the set (and the reformulated Orange-Blue!)

Geek Chic: N7

Hello everyone!
During the next few posts I will be posting swatches of a whole bunch of Geek Chic Cosmetics  products. I will be dividing them by collection, if there's enough to warrant a whole post by themselves. I don't know how long it will take me but hopefully I'll have them all up by the end of the week.
I tried a new technique for swatches ( I realized my swatches were pretty sloppy, and now that I'm getting the hang of my new camera, it seemed only fair to try and make better swatches). I have tried my best to accurately depict these colors, and will also be posting official color descriptions according to the website, along with my own interpretations/comments on each one. Without further ado, here's the first post: N7.

Anyone who knows me knows that these past few weeks I've been keeping myself sane by playing Mass Effect obsessively. I've already gone through two playthroughs of ME1 and ME2, and am currently working on ME3 for the second time. I always play FemShep. I think the dude's a douche. To each their own ;)

(swatches over Pixie Epoxy)

(Daylight Bulb, no flash) L-R: Archangel, Cerberus, N7, Normandy

(With Flash)

Color Descriptions:
Archangel:  Archangel is very unique. It's a rich, dusty sage color with a lovely pearl finish. It has just the tiniest touch of shimmer to it, yet is still soft and sophisticated.

My take: I didn't really see this as a green, more like maybe a silver with a slight hint of green. It is pearly, and absolutely beautiful though. Plus, Archangel is probably one of my favorite characters in the game :)

Cerberus: Cerberus is a bright, true yellow gold. It goes on opaque, but can be applied lightly for sheer coverage too.

My Take: This is such a beautiful gold color. I kind of want to bathe in it.

N7: N7 is an all out assault of awesome red. It goes on bright and solid and packs a punch of silver sparkle that will blow your mind!

My Take: This is definitely intense, and I love it. I saw more of a satin-like finish, rather than full-on sparkly, but you do get some silver sparkles which make it look even better. I can't wait to try this mixed with some clear gloss. It did stain my skin a bit, so  I definitely would use a primer under it.

Normandy: Normandy is a dark, gunmetal gray with a metallic sheen. It goes on opaque, but can be applied lightly for sheer coverage.

My Take: It's a nice, opaque color, and the color description is quite accurate. I think it would look really pretty in a look along with N7 (will try, eventually)

That concludes my first swatch post in the Geek Chic series! Don't forget to check back for the others, soon :)
